Duration:    5 days including 1 day independent assessment.

This is the beginner's course. Candidates should have a good level of fitness * and a tolerance for working at height. The minimum age for Irata training is 18 years old.

A level 1 Rope Access technician is capable of performing a range of rope access activities under the supervision of an Irata level 3 Supervisor. 

The Technician is:
*    Responsible for pre and post use inspections of his/her own personal rope access equipment.
*   Able to assist in rigging under the supervision of a higher grade.
*   Able to undertake a rescue whilst in descent mode.

Note: A level 1 is not able to supervise others.

Course handouts include training notes and copies of the Irata General requirements and the Irata guidelines

Following successful assessment on completion of the course candidates will receive a cover note of their internationally accepted qualification and within six weeks receive an Irata log book, certificate and ID card. 

*An indicator of minimum fitness level would be being able to perform 25 sit ups, 25 Press ups and 5 pull ups easily.
