April 2009

Earlier this year we held a very successful Theatre Technicians Advanced Work at Height & Rescue course in South East London at a great venue in Woolwich called the Hanger Arts Trust.  We were generously hosted by Alex Thrift of Aircraft Circus who made us feel very welcome and gave me a guided tour around their great facility, unknown to him my knees were knocking at the top of the venue!.  It was an interesting change from the norm and refreshing to meet such interesting characters.  The group of technicians were organised by Brian Donaldson who proved to be not only competent but something of a natural showman on the ropes, seen here in the photo making his descent with time for a photo opportunity!  As always with great students and Tjebbe’s unsurpassed training skills everyone went home with a certificate.

"Paying attention to sir as always!"          "Donald looking pleased with himself!"

Apart from running courses Hangar Arts Trust also holds events and performances and is proud to have the highest flying trapeze in London.  The staff are all very friendly and welcoming as well as being very professional, so if you fancy doing something different I would highly recommend it.  Have a look at the web sites www.aircraftcircus.com or www.hangaruk.com
